To enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
Come out to see us at Pittsboro first Sunday 12-4pm
The post hosts regular events, including Memorial Day celebrations, to honor veterans and foster community spirit. For instance, on May 24, 2025, the post organized a Memorial Weekend event in downtown Pittsboro, featuring live music, food, and activities for all ages.
Our American Legion Post 283 has many local sponsors and partners, thank you to all those who continue to serve our local community!
Thanks to our very own Legion Member
Seth Wood and his local business for
cooking and serving all the Barbecue at
the Memorial day event. Seth is on our
Fund Raising and Events Committee and
was tremendous in coordinating efforts
from every vendor and the town. Stop in
a get some good food and great beer from
his bar/restaurant.
Thanks to Postal Fish Company for all of
those delicious steamed oysters. We also
appreciate you in letting us fly old glory
on your flag pole. In the mood for
something other than beef and pork, well
seafood and fish is in Pittsboro, stop in
and let them know the American Legion
appreciates their support.
Thirsty Skull was ready and willing to
donate and serve their beer at our event.
They have been so supportive of our
post, everyone should stop in and have a
beer. They have two locations, one in
Siler City and one in Pittsboro. Chances
are you can be at one within 20 minutes.
Thanks to Tiana Thurber, the PBO
Business Association President and
Pittsboro Pools League Team Captain of
the P-Town Players for supporting our
post. She has consistently assisted our
post with 1st Sundays, invited us to her
events to fund raise and we should all go
there and shop at her store. She has a
keen eye for really nice new and vintage
items.
Thank you to Dan's Dogs. Dan Augustine
has been with the legion from the very
beginning, sacrificing his time, money,
and effort to ensure our post would not
fail or falter and he has succeeded in that
mission. Our post is now financially
stronger and more stable thanks to his
effort, dedication, and to his hot dog cart.
Thanks to Virlie's Grill for supplying the
sides at the Memorial Day event. Ken
Eddins is also on the Pittsboro Pool
League and the captain of the 9-Ball
Express Team. When KJ found out about
the event he did not hesitate to step
forward and say what can we supply.
Thanks to Red Moose Brewing Company
for donating their beer, but also bringing
in their one of a kind, mobile fire truck
tap. It is alway an eye catcher and great
beer too.
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Pittsboro for
just giving us helping hands in a time
when we were unsure how many people
we would need.
Taylor's Siteworks makes the thank you
board again. They have started clearing
more out at the post building and has
donated two eight-foot long concrete
culvert pipes. This will allow our post to
have a circle drive with an entrance and
exit, when we start having food to go
sales at the post. We are all ever so
thankful for what you are doing.
